A lifelong love affair with food

I have always found fascinating the human body, and spent much of my childhood nurse my dolls and teddy bears dog-eared. As my training gathered pace and I get the age where I had to make major decisions related to my academic future, my passion for nursing faded.

However, despite a media-related degree do, my interest in nutrition never went away completely. I'm not the kind of person who watches every little thing they eat, and a little convinced of what you want will not kill you. However, a healthy lifestyle is not always hinge on eating what we think are the ' right ' foods; It is about avoiding certain things that can cause more harm than good.

When I had my children, my interest in good nutrition an obsession as I vowed I would not stand by and watch my kids go on the road of obesity because of poor nutrition knowledge. I decided to return to learn when I realized that I wanted to know more about the importance of good nutrition. Because I already had a job that I loved and a family to raise, I have decided to look at the many different courses available online.

Quickly I realized that this was the kind of topic that I could confidently be examined via distance learning. This is the point where my desire for achieving a formal certificate of feeding studies was seriously.

I decided I wanted to study infant nutrition because not only would this benefit me academically but it would also have secondary benefits for my children. I looked in child nutrition courses held on different schools of the night, and this was a clear option, I wasn't sure I could make every night class. Distance education was definitely they way to go for me, if it suited my lifestyle and obligations.

Although I'm busy, I'm finding the work load for the course manageable and I already have several modules. After focusing on the importance of nutrition in children in key stages of their development, I have now moved to common Nutritional Disorders in young people. I have especially found that the course has a huge positive effect on me and my children.

It is very eye opening to realize how my own power supply has affected my kids. More importantly, I am now aware of potentially dangerous dyes and additives that appear in all the different types of food and beverages. While I've always tried to give my kids a healthy balanced diet, thanks to online nutrition courses I am now much more informed.

Once I have completed this nutrition course I feel that I would like to broaden my knowledge even further. With teenagers looming fast I would like to learn about eating disorders, weight loss and weight gain etc., so I'll take another look online for complete nutrition distance learning courses I can.
